Drugs arrest - Woodcock Street - You Said, We did!

Dear Resident, 

On the evening of Wednesday 29th July, officers from Wakefield Central NPT East were following up on recent community intelligence regarding drug dealing in the Portobello area alongside colleagues from the Roads Policing Unit. 

Just after midnight, officers sighted known drug users waiting on Woodcock Street and a white car was seen approaching them. The officers approached the vehicle where a suspected drug deal was taking place, on seeing the police the driver tried to drive off, but tactical contact was made to prevent a pursuit.

Two occupants of the vehicle were detained and a large quantity of suspected class A drugs - crack cocaine and heroin were located; both were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. The driver was also arrested for driving whilst disqualified.

The investigation has been progressed by colleagues in CID and the matter is currently with the Crown Prosecution Service.
